The future of packaging is increasingly “green” and eco-sustainable

Wrapping, packaging are and will always be more “green“, environmentally conscious, eco-friendly. And this is the direction that the industry has chosen to follow in recent years, in order to develop technologies more environmentally friendly, quality and less polluting packaging.

It’s the sustainable packaging the protagonist of the conference, scheduled for Wednesday, November 30 “How to draw the path of sustainable packaging. The role of the industrial distribution sector”, organized by Conai and Ipack-Ima.

The intent behind this event is clear: to analyze critically and technically, thanks to the presence of experts and the presentation of case histories, the scenario of sustainability in Italy and the correct solutions with a view to prevention.

The eco-sustainability of packaging is the only choice, a necessity. The packaging waste represents about 4% of total waste and 23% of municipal waste from separate collection. It’s important to reduce the environmental impact, making the packaging more and more “green”.

On Summer the use of the ready-made food grows

Summer means holidays and relax, also against cooking: during the summer time two Italians out of three prefer tinned, deep-frozen, pre-cooked foods and somehow ready-made.

However the packaging must follows a series of aims like keep the food safe, avoid the stoles, being cheap and balance services and prices both for the material used and the handling time. From the ecological point of view it’s important to use easily recyclable materials and in the less great deal as possible.

Ronchi, thanks to the most innovative technologies, guarantees the right food preserve with the respect of the laws.

Europeans prefer the glass

According to a survey conducted in 17 European countries by FEVE, the European Federation of glass containers, 3/4 of 8.600 European consumers surveyed say they prefer glass packaging products in general and especially food and drink.

The glass containers are preferred for three main characteristics: long and better preservation of the content, health benefits, as inert material and environmental compatibility. According to the study, in fact, 47% of Europeans believe that the glass is the most environmentally friendly material, in view of beverage cartons (34%), plastics (7%), bag-in-box (5%), tins of metal (3%) and metal cans (2%).

The research also suggested that often there is still a gap between consumers who have expressed such preferences and their purchases, especially for cosmetic products such as creams and perfumes, but also for products like soft drinks, water and yogurt.

Each packaging material needs a proper fill line, which respects the quality of content and facilitate the filling of containers in innovative shapes and sizes.
